Cybersecurity Awareness Resources

Staying Safe Online

This past year, the Information Security Office promoted several security awareness topics to empower faculty and staff to stay cyber secure, build a culture of security, and better protect the university’s IT systems and data.

Monthly topics ranged from clean desk policies and social engineering to the importance of multifactor authentication and malware threats.

All of this year’s featured security awareness learning content can be accessed using a deep Cornerstone link (to eastcarolina.csod.com) that points directly to the Security Awareness subject (login required).

ITCS has also created a new Cybersecurity Awareness resource that provides comprehensive information for the campus community and resources for further reading. Blog posts center on working and teaching remotely, fake news as a security threat, and identity theft and phishing scams. Tips and news items are featured, along with videos developed by StaySafeOnline.org, National Cybersecurity Alliance and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). This resource will be updated regularly to ensure that all in the Pirate community are aware of effective ways to work and learn safely and securely in both an on-campus or remote environment.

Additional information can be found in the ITCS Information Security Knowledge Base.
